The puppies are all doing well and growing so fast! They can hear very well now and will get excited when they hear us come in the room. They have started crying a bit more and many of them howl now. A few of the larger ones tend to climb on the edge of the whelping box and fall out. (Don’t worry. Our whelping box is only a few inches from the ground.)
We interact with each puppy equally and on a daily basis… many times a multiple daily basis! My daughter holds one puppy for a good thirty minutes before she takes it back to the whelping box and gets another puppy. My husband talks daily to them and I am constantly holding and kissing them. : ) I’ve been reading on- line a lot and have found out we should start to expose them to lots of sounds including soft, loud, sudden and constant so they can get used to the world around them. We should put them on different textures to walk on and take them into large rooms so they know that the world is bigger than their whelping box. Doing all this will help them when new parent’s take them home so they’re not so scared and shy.
We have an appointment tomorrow with the vet to get them their deworming medication. Each one will be weighed by the vet to figure out what dosage they will need. We will buy the medicine from the vet.
Below are their new pictures I took last night. My camera was acting funny so I apologize if some pictures are not as clear as others. They wiggle a lot more now and it was really hard trying to get their pictures, especially with my one year old boy trying to steal my camera and take the blankets the puppies were taking their pictures on! (He hates for ANY ONE to use his blankets!)
* I took 3 pictures of each one, but below is just one picture. If you want to see them all, click here.
Thanks!
Female 1- She's howling! |
Female 2 Gotta love that face! |
Female 3- Sorry for the fuzzy picture! Look how sweet she is. : ) |
Female 4- Her nickname is "seven" because the white on her chest is in the shape of 7. |
Female 5- Our adoralbe runt! She's my daughter's favorite! We bottle feed her and she loves to suck on thumbs and any part of your face! |
Female 6- She used to have a thin white stripe from nose to middle of forhead. It dissappeared in the past week! But we know she is female 6 due to her distinct pattern of the color of her toes. |
Female 7- She kept standing when I was taking pictures so I was so happy! Little did I know she was standing so she could go poop on the blanket! : ) |
Female 8- "Little Mylie"- She was yawning here. I love it! |
Male 1- He looks really chill in this picture. |
Male 2- "Bogie" He is a sweet boy! Love his markings! |
Male 3- "Rhino" - He's a big boy! He ties for the largest with female 2. |
